The National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) is a program of the United States government that is focused on reducing the risks and impacts of earthquakes. It is administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which is a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. The NEHRP was established in 1977 and is responsible for coordinating the efforts of federal agencies, state and local governments, and other stakeholders to reduce the risks and impacts of earthquakes.
