The NASA Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) is a NASA facility located in Edwards, California that is dedicated to the study of aircraft and spaceflight. The DFRC was established in 1946 as the Ames Aeronautical Laboratory, and was later renamed the NASA Ames Research Center. In 2014, the DFRC was merged with the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center to form the NASA Armstrong-Dryden Flight Research Center. The DFRC is home to a number of research programs and projects, including the Earth Science Division, which studies the Earth’s atmosphere and climate, and the Intelligent Systems Division, which focuses on the development of intelligent systems for aircraft and spacecraft. The DFRC also conducts research on a variety of aircraft, including commercial airliners, military aircraft, and experimental aircraft. The DFRC is one of several NASA facilities that are dedicated to research and development in aviation and spaceflight.
