NASA’s Biotechnology Facility (NBF) is a laboratory at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, California that is dedicated to research and development in biotechnology and its application to space exploration. The NBF conducts research in a variety of areas, including the development of new technologies and systems for life support and biomedical research in space, as well as the study of the effects of microgravity on biological systems. The NBF also works on developing technologies for use in the production of food, medicine, and other products in space. Some of the research conducted at the NBF has also had applications on Earth, including the development of new medical treatments and the optimization of industrial processes. The NBF is one of several facilities at NASA Ames that are focused on research and development in biotechnology and other fields.
