The United States Army is the principal land warfare service branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. It is one of the eight U.S. uniformed services, and is designated as the Army of the United States in the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Army is responsible for providing protection for the country and its citizens, as well as promoting peace and security around the world. It is comprised of active-duty soldiers, National Guard soldiers, and Army Reserve soldiers. The U.S. Army also has a number of civilian employees who work in support roles.
