Truth Initiative is a non-profit organization based in the United States whose mission is to “achieve a culture where all youth and young adults reject tobacco.” It was founded in 1999 as the American Legacy Foundation and later changed its name to Truth Initiative in 2015. The organization is best known for its truth campaign, a national youth smoking prevention campaign launched in 2000 that aims to educate young people about the risks of smoking and the tobacco industry’s practices. Truth Initiative’s other initiatives include research and policy efforts to reduce tobacco use, as well as programs and resources to help smokers quit. The organization works with partners in the public health community, government, and the private sector to implement its programs and achieve its mission.
