STS-96 was a space shuttle mission flown by the Space Shuttle Discovery in May 1999. The mission was the 96th flight of the Space Shuttle program and the 30th flight of Discovery. The primary goal of the mission was to deliver supplies and equipment to the International Space Station (ISS), including the Spacehab module and the Docking Compartment (DC-1), which was used to attach the Russian-built Pirs Docking Compartment to the ISS.
