Sportfreunde Lotte is a German football club based in Lotte, a small town in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The club was founded in 1948 and currently plays in the 3. Liga, the third tier of German football. The team has played in the Regionalliga and the 2. Bundesliga, but never in the top-flight Bundesliga. The team plays its home matches at the Frimo Stadion, which has a capacity of around 14,000 spectators. The club is known for its youth academy and has produced several players who have gone on to play professionally. The team has also had a strong performance in the German cup competition DFB Pokal where they reached the semi-final in the 2016-17 season.
