The Reading Royals were a minor league ice hockey team that played in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The team was founded in 1991 and played in Reading, Pennsylvania until 2017, when they moved to become the Maine Mariners. The Royals were one of the most successful teams in the ECHL, making the playoffs in 14 of their 26 seasons and winning the Kelly Cup, the ECHL’s championship trophy, in 2013. The team was affiliated with several NHL teams over the years, including the Philadelphia Flyers and the Washington Capitals.
