Origami Mommy Font Family

About At long last, a new typeface. It was a suggestion made by a good friend of mine after he saw the horrible mistake that is Transuranium (if you care enough, it?s somewhere in the archive). He thought ?Origami Mommy? would make a nice name for the font, so that has been made its name. It comes in two variations ? regular and Pixellated.

The typeface itself is a study in pixels & whitespace in letters. In order to make letterforms recognizable to the eye, one must pick and choose which dots in a figure stay and which ones are cleared. In the case of Origami Mommy, I started with a seven-by-seven box and proceeded from that point to strategically delete squares from the interior of each box to form what is readily recognized as a letter.

In both fonts, there are alternate letters in the lower & uppercase. Look at the sample below and notice the difference in certain letters such as the a and r, for example. There are alternate characters for both of these letters (among many others) that can be used in conjunction with one another for a seamless & dynamic effect.
