Hannover 96 is a German football club based in Hannover, Lower Saxony. The club was founded in 1896 and has a long history of success in German football. Hannover 96 currently competes in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. The team has won the Bundesliga championship once and has also won the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) twice. In addition to its success in domestic competition, Hannover 96 has also had some success in European competition, reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League in 2012. The club plays its home matches at the HDI-Arena, which has a seating capacity of 49,000.
