The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is an agency of the United States government that is responsible for managing the response to natural disasters and other emergencies. It was created in 1979 and is part of the Department of Homeland Security. FEMA’s mission is to help people and communities before, during, and after disasters. This includes providing emergency assistance, coordinating the response of federal agencies, and working with state and local governments and other organizations to provide relief and support. Some of the services FEMA provides include temporary housing, disaster unemployment assistance, and disaster grants to individuals and families.
