The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) is a United States Department of Defense (DoD) organization that provides finance and accounting services to the DoD and other federal agencies. DFAS is responsible for a wide range of activities, including the payment of military personnel and retirees, the disbursement of payroll, the management of government travel and transportation expenses, and the accounting for and reconciliation of financial transactions. DFAS is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, and has additional locations throughout the United States.
