I designed the icon for the popular Chrome extension Black Menu for Google (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/black-menu-for-google/eignhdfgaldabilaaegmdfbajngjmoke)
The app is basically an impressive exercise in condensing and consolidating all of Googles services into a single app.
In addition to designing the icon, I’ve done a lot of general consultation and collaborative design work on the app with it’s developer, Carlos. We’ve had an underlying mantra of making the extension and it’s presentation of Google’s apps “More Google than Google” in terms of design details. This involved identifying their most prominent UI practices or filling in the gaps when needed and applying them as consistently as possible across all their services. Sounds kinda like Material Design? Well we’ve been doing this for years. This included making dozens of new icons for Google services that had not be updated to their new design language.
