The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). APHIS is responsible for protecting animal and plant health in the United States, as well as promoting trade in agricultural and related products. This includes conducting inspections and investigations, enforcing regulations, and working to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases and pests. APHIS also provides support for responding to animal and plant health emergencies, such as outbreaks of diseases and natural disasters. In addition to its work in the United States, APHIS also works with other countries and organizations to promote animal and plant health on a global scale.
