The Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) is a research laboratory that focuses on the study of the physical, chemical, and biological processes of the ocean and atmosphere. It is one of six research laboratories under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and is located in Miami, Florida. AOML’s research covers a wide range of topics, including hurricane research, climate change, ocean and atmospheric circulation, ocean observations and modeling, and the study of marine ecosystems. AOML also provides operational support for NOAA’s National Hurricane Center, which is responsible for issuing warnings and forecasts for tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico.
