Android Marshmallow is a version of the Android operating system, released in October 2015. It introduced several new features, including a new permissions model, which gave users more control over the app permissions they grant, and a new feature called Now on Tap, which allowed users to access Google Now information from anywhere in the app. Marshmallow also introduced a new power management system, which aimed to improve battery life, as well as a new feature called Doze, which puts the device into a sleep state when it is not in use. The user interface was refined and polished, with subtle visual tweaks and improved animations. Android Marshmallow was well-received and became one of the most popular versions of Android at the time. It was succeeded by Android 7.0 Nougat in August 2016.
