Android Lollipop is a version of the Android operating system, released in November 2014. It introduced a major visual overhaul, known as Material Design, which brought a more colorful and dynamic user interface. Lollipop also added new features, such as a new notifications system, the ability to manage and prioritize notifications, and a battery-saving feature called Project Volta. Additionally, Lollipop introduced support for multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices. It was the first Android release to support 64-bit processors and had improved security features such as the addition of encryption by default. Android Lollipop was well-received and became one of the most popular versions of Android at the time. It was succeeded by Android 6.0 Marshmallow in October 2015.
