American Memory is a project of the Library of Congress that provides free online access to historical materials, including documents, photographs, audio and video recordings, and other items from the Library’s collections. These collections cover a wide range of topics and provide a unique glimpse into American history and culture. The goal of American Memory is to make these historical materials more widely available and to promote their use for education and research. The project was launched in 1990 and has since grown to include millions of items from the Library’s collections.
