A double license is a permission that allows an athlete to play in two different leagues or clubs at the same time. This can be the case in team sports such as football, handball, or ice hockey, where players often participate in multiple leagues or clubs. A double license may be granted for various reasons, such as to allow the athlete to prove themselves in a higher-level league, or to give them the opportunity to earn additional income. In Germany, double licenses are issued by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund or DOSB).
