The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) is an independent agency of the United States government that oversees all non-military, U.S. international broadcasting. The BBG is responsible for providing objective and balanced news and information to audiences overseas in support of U.S. foreign policy goals. The BBG comprises a bipartisan board of nine members who are appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate. The board is responsible for setting the overall direction and supervision of the BBG’s networks, which include Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the Middle East Broadcasting Networks, and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting.
