The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that is responsible for the maintenance, operation, development, and preservation of the United States Capitol complex, which includes the United States Capitol, the Senate and House Office Buildings, the Congressional Library, and the United States Botanic Garden. The AOC also provides support services to the United States Congress and serves as the administrative and technical staff for the Office of the Congressional Record.
