STS-105 was a Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station (ISS) flown by Space Shuttle Discovery. The mission launched on August 10, 2001, and was the eleventh shuttle mission to visit the ISS. The primary objective of the mission was to deliver the Expedition 3 crew to the ISS and to bring back the Expedition 2 crew. The mission also included the delivery of supplies and equipment to the ISS and the installation of a new docking port. The STS-105 mission patch features the Space Shuttle Discovery with the International Space Station in the foreground and the Earth in the background. The patch also includes the mission slogan “Bridging the Gap Between the Old and the New” and the names of the seven crew members.
