EMILY’s List is a political action committee (PAC) in the United States. It was founded in 1985 with the mission of getting pro-choice Democratic women elected to public office. The name of the organization is an acronym that stands for “Early Money Is Like Yeast” (i.e., it helps the dough rise). The group raises money to support Democratic female candidates for the United States Congress, the presidency, and other federal, state, and local offices. The organization also provides training, networking, and other resources to help women run for office and win elections.
