Schneider, born in Groitzsch (near Leipzig) on March 8, 1890, trained as a businessman and lithographer, then studied at the State Academy for Graphic Arts and Book Trade in Leipzig, where he had been a lecturer in type from 1934. In addition to Frakendeutsch, he designed the Pergamon Antiqua for Ludwig Wagner.
He died at the age of 57 in M hlberg an der Elbe.
