The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) is a state agency within the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA). The OEHHA is responsible for identifying and evaluating potential health hazards from chemicals in the environment, and for providing information and recommendations to help protect public health. The OEHHA also administers the Proposition 65 program, which requires businesses to provide warning labels on products that contain chemicals known to cause cancer or birth defects. The OEHHA works with other state and federal agencies, as well as with industry, environmental organizations, and the public to develop and implement programs and policies that promote environmental health and safety in California.
